The Occiput Mechanic ™
Thank you so much for purchasing The Occiput Mechanic, my practitioner device, available for home use. Please watch the instructional video to the end so that you receive the maximum benefit from using your device. Before using the device, check with your medical or health practitioner that this device is right for your needs.
Horizontal Use
1) Set your phone or timer for no more than three to five minutes and pour yourself a glass of water to consume at the end of this session
2) Find a comfortable flat surface ie. a bed, a couch or the floor.
3) Test and adjust the neck length and trapezius positions on your device.
4) Hold the device in front of you with two hands, looking at the heart shape with the finger moulds facing you.
5) Lift the device over your head and tuck the finger moulds right underneath your skull.
6) Lie down and feel whether the fingers are in the correct position under the skull.
Your face should be flat or slightly angled towards your crown. If the fingers are feeling too sharp, place the soft padded bag over the fingertips to soften the experience.
7) Start your timer.
8) Find any painful spots by slowly moving your face from one side, relaxing into the pressure. Then do the same the other side.
Let The Occiput Mechanic drain the pain away. This may feel like an amplified headache or facial nerve pain to start with.
9) If you feel pain in the trapezius fingers points, circle your arms gently until you no longer feel this pressure.
The points should not be touching your shoulder blades, only the space in between the blades and the spine. If the pain is still intense, remove the points altogether and just use the moulded fingers until you are more accustomed to this therapeutic feeling.
10) Make sure your arms are straight by your side and your legs are extended.
11) Relax by breathing deeply for three breaths letting the drainage to continue until the pressure has eased.
12) When your alarm sounds, lift your head and remove the device. When you are ready, slowly sit upright. You may feel light- headed and you will have pressure marks on your skin from the finger moulds and trapezius finger points. Drink the glass of water. Also rub some liniment or balm under your skull and down your neck, to the tops of your shoulder blades.
13) Sit and relax to allow the body to adjust before continuing any activity.
14) Use The Occiput Mechanic twice a day for only three to five minutes at a time until you are used to the pressure. Then use your body as a guide before increasing the time and frequency of use.
15) Maximum time is 15 minutes only whilst in the Horizontal position up to three times a day if required.
Vertical use.
1) Sitting comfortably upright in a high-backed chair, couch or bed.
2) Hold the device in front of you with two hands, looking at the heart shape with the finger moulds facing you.
3) Lift the device over your head and tuck the finger moulds right under your skull.
4) Because your full head weight is not as heavy in this position, angle your head and neck to locate any painful areas and relax with 3 deep breaths.
5) In this upright position you can use the device for a longer period of time, maximum 15 to 20 minutes.
